She asserted,  “We recommend that when schools resume on Monday, teaching and learning should continue unhindered till the end of the term.” Adefisayo therefore advised pupils/students to take their studies more seriously in a bid to recover the lost period and thereby excel and hoped that there would

What is your advice to the youths and the government? DR. (MRS) OLAJUMOKE OJO, A Lecturer at Ekiti State University, Biochemistry department Youth should not give in but should re-strategize.   The Owa Ooye of Okemesi, Oba Michael Adedeji Gbadebo and Ajero of Ijero kingdom, Oba Adebayo Adewole have received the Jimoh Aliu Burial Committee in their palaces, promising their cooperation in giving the late theatre icon a befitting burial. Addressing the committee in Okemesi Ekiti yesterday, the Owa Ooye lauded the Akogun Tai Oguntayo-led committee for taking the pains to contact all the stakeholders in the course of planning for the burial ceremony. He described Jimoh Aliu as one of his Chiefs whose impact in Okemesi would not be forgotten. Having acknowledged the family's effort to organize the burial ceremony as deemed fit, he urged the committee "to organize part of the final burial activities in Okemesi before or after the main event in Ado Ekiti. The Youth, Government And The EndSARS Protest

Image
Orimabuyaku Nifemi Faith The youth in every organization, sector or administration is the strength of such an organization and when the strength is not properly mentored or monitored so to say it can boomerang, but when such a strength is made very good use of, I tell you it yield exceptional result. The government on the other is a core part of the society that cannot be overlooked because it’s the one in charge of every spheres in the society. When you have a new born baby, such a child must possess a birth certificate which is issued out by the government, when someone dies too, even after your death, you must also possess a death certificate even for the dead. That’s how important the government, nothing goes in or out without the knowledge of the government. That been said, recently in the state and nation at large there has been something we could call a shaking in the helm of affairs basically in the security sector which is referred to as Special Anti Robbery Squad(SARS), their

MULTIPLE ASSURED DESTRUCTION [MAD] By: Mahmud Jega

How will the EndSARS protest in Nigeria, which fizzled out at the weekend except for cross-country looting of COVID-19 palliative warehouses, most likely be remembered in history? No one officially called off the protest. No one even “suspended” it, as NLC and ASUU usually do. The protest had no leader or even a Joint Action Committee to call it off, so it could only fizzle out.  At first, it looked like EndSARS will go down in Nigeria’s history as a once in a generation burst of youthful idealism, a justified protest against police excesses, marked by a jolly convivial atmosphere, spreading from one city to another like falling dominoes, with bright candles lighting up the nights, with sweet music blaring from megaphones and with artful dancers entertaining protesters, all fired up by Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, some newspapers, radio and television stations. Instead, historical accounts of EndSARS years from now will remember the burning of police stations, government offices and

THE #ENDSARS PROTESTS; A FUNDAMENTAL LESSON IN DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE* - By Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

I heavily grieve for those who have lost their lives or been injured during the period of these protests. My deepest sympathies go to their families and loved ones for none should have been made to pay such a dear price. My career as an active politician spans nearly three decades. In that time, I have seen many things as Nigeria has struggled, sometimes against itself, to undertake the often painful yet inexorable push toward democratic government accountable to, and protective of, the people.   Though this journey, I have traversed the landscape of human experience. Having been as a political prisoner during our struggle for democracy but also having the singular honour of serving this state and its people as governor, I have known highs and lows, seen both the good and the bad of things.   But the events of the past few days have been extraordinary in a most dire sense. Only time will tell if we have the collective wisdom and requisite compassion to learn the proper lessons from

In a statement by Taiwo Alli, Executive Director Corporate Affairs, Wempco Group the hotel’s management said: “Western Metal Products Company (WEMPCO) Group, owners of Lagos Oriental Hotel, formally acknowledge that there was an attack on our property on October 20, 2020, when hoodlums armed with guns, knives and bottles, forcefully gained entrance to our facility, assaulted some of our security personnel and damaged properties. “Unidentified individuals whose motives remain unknown to us have gone to town with a rather unfortunate narrative claiming that the Lagos Oriental Hotel is the investment of politicians, thereby exposing it to unwarranted attacks. “Lagos Oriental Hotel is owned by the WEMPCO Group with 99percent shareholding.
