Afuye Commiserates with late TESCOM Boss family

  The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, has commiserated with the family of the former Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission, Mr Babatunde Abegunde, who passed on a couple of days ago. Afuye in a press release, described late Pa Abegunde as loss to the teaching profession and the State as a whole. The late TSC Boss was a retired teacher and a notable politician from Aisegba Ekiti. "Apart from being a professional teacher, Baba Abegunde was a community leader and a progressive politician whose legacy of integrity will, forever, be remembered," the Speaker said. The speaker noted that Chief Abegunde was an enigmatic leader who the family should be proud of his enviable legacy of forthrightness and honesty." He prayed for the family and the entire Ekiti people that they would not witness sudden death again.

Ekiti Gov-Elect, Oyebanji Visits Fayose

Ekiti State Governor-elect, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos residence of former Governor of the State, Mr Ayodele Fayose. The visit was sequel to the congratulatory messages sent to Oyebanji by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the June 18 election, Chief Bisi Kolawole, Ekiti State chapter of PDP and Ex-Governor Fayose respectively, hailing the outcome of the election, won by the APC candidate. Oyebanji said the visit was to extend courtesies to Fayose as a former governor of the state, who, according to him, demonstrated statesmanship by congratulating him shortly after he was declared winner of the June 18 election.   The secretary to Ekiti State Government, Mr Foluso Daramola has been appointed by the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, to head the Transition Committee and also accompanied by an Advisory Council. This was in line with the Ekiti State Transition Law, 2019 and following the election of Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as Governor-elect. The Transition Committee. would among other tasks, study the state of affairs of the present administration, review the programmes and projects of MDAs and map out strategies for a smooth transition from the incumbent to the incoming government.  The Advisory Council would address unresolved issues. The Transition Committee and Advisory Council comprise members nominated by the state government and the Governor-elect. By #adl Prince Christopher Olawole Igbeda popularly known as Krix Walawala is an inspirational Ekiti hip-hop Reggae artist, songwriter and record producer. Not many people were familiar with his music until he was discovered by the wife of Ekiti state governor Erelu Bisi Fayemi in 2014. That year Walawala composed a special track for JKF titled "Witiwiti lojude". He sent the track to Erelu and after listening to it in her car amongst many others that came around the same time Erelu made a promise that Walawala was a total talent that must be improved and developed. Though the track wasn't a total hit then because people had not heard of it but Erelu was ready to make something big out of it. That was how the track became the official campaign song in 2014. It is an understatement to say that the wife of the Governor of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has really made the State proud in the affairs of the state and indeed among the comity of Wives of  State Governors in Nigeria. The fatal attack that occurred at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo in Ondo State last Sunday would have been averted were there to be States' Police or Amotekun Corps allowed to carry weapons. Warns against siege to Southwest Calls on S/West Govs to Declare 3 days of Mourning   The pan Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has described the attack on a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State this Sunday morning as a terrorism act against the south western part of Nigeria bordering on a declaration of war! The body then called on all the six governors in the South West of Nigeria to declare three solid days of mourning for the victims of Owo carnage. Reports have it that some gunmen on Sunday morning attacked St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, headquaters of Owo Local Government Area during church service. Owo is the hometown of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo State.  It was gathered that no fewer than 50 corpses have been moved out of the church with many casualties lying at the Federal Medical Center, Owo, for medical attention.
