Insecurity: Ekiti Obas Condemn Kidnap of Colleague, Task Police To Flush Out Abductors

The chairman of Ekiti state council of Traditional rulers and the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti in Ekiti South West Local government area of the state, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adebanji Alabi, the Afuntade 1 has called on the police to expedite action to rescue the abducted traditional ruler of Ilemeso-Ekiti in Oye Local government area of Ekiti state, Oba David Oyewumi Adegboyega.


Oba Ajibade Alabi while speaking today on behalf of Ekiti state council of Traditional rulers at his palace in Ilawe-Ekiti described the situation as embarrassing, worrisome and troubling, asked the police to spread its dragnets all over the state as well as increase patrols both day and night to stop the kidnappers from having free movement.


Oba Alabi suggested the recruitment of more Amotekun security outfit with requisite gadgets in order to monitor all routes. He further suggested that men of the Nigerian Army be brought in at this stage to support other security outfits in flushing out all kidnappers from Ekiti.


Oba David Oyewumi Adegboyega, the Obadu of Ilemeso-Ekiti in Oye Ekiti Local Government Area of the state was kidnapped in his palace yesterday by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen who scaled the fence of his palace at about 8:30 pm.


Meanwhile, following the kidnap of Oba David Oyewumi Adegboyega, there has been grief and fear in Ilemeso-Ekiti, a neighborhood community with Isan-Ekiti, the hometown of the Governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi.


It would be recalled that the Elewu of Ewu-Ekiti in Ilejemeje Local Government area of the state, Oba Adetulu Ajayi was shot last week and escaped abduction.


In a swift reaction to the abduction of Oba Adegboyega, the Ekiti state police's image-maker, ASP Sunday Abutu confirmed the abduction of Oba Adegboyega and regretted the incident.
