The Archbishop of the Catholic Church, Ekiti Diocese, Bishop Femi Ajakaye has told the former governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, that he is still in the High Court over his case against him while in power.

Bishop Ajakaye, while delivering his sermon during thanksgiving of Governor Fayemi's third anniversary in office categorically asked the former governor who sat in front; "am your friend or not?" Though Fayose didn't respond, the Bishop further quipped; "I'm not anybody's enemy. When you offend me, I forgive you and when I offend you I expect you to forgive me but if you don't, it is left for you because I don't even know if you nurse grudge against me."

It would be recalled that when Fayose was in government, he introduced a development levy  of N500.00 on pupils in primary schools in Ekiti State. The Catholic Church under Bishop Ajakaye condemned this action, describing it as "child Tax." The church then sued the government of Mr Fayose to court.

After the Bishop's sermon, the former governor was invited to read one of the congregational prayers which he did and left the church immediately before the commencement of the real thanksgiving programme as it was gathered, he had to catch a flight in Akure.

The Bishop, who commended Governor Fayemi for his monumental achievements in the last three years, called on Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC) to conduct a free and fair election in Anambra State on November 6th, 2021.

He also called on President Muhamadu Buhari to tackle insecurity problem in the country saying that "just as the President is handling the issues of Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu, he should also deal with Boko Haram and kidnapping issues decisively.

The Bishop wanted the presidency to cooperate with Ekiti State government in order to get damaged roads repaired.

Among those dignitaries in the church are; the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, his wife, Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, Deputy Governor of the State, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, Minister of Industry and first Governor of Ekiti, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and his wife, the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly Rt.
