Ikere Cult Killing, Police Arrest 10

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested 10 people over the clash of rival cult groups in Ikere Ekiti where several people were killed.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday A but u made this known yesterday while confirming the dastardly act. He put the number of casualties at six while other reports put at different members ranging between 5 and 10.
Tragedy struck Sunday, April 18 in Ikere Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti state while unidentified two rival cult groups engaged themselves which resulted to the death of six people.
Abutu informed that the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Ilupeju Division, upon receipt of the information, mobilized to the scene where it was discovered that six(6) suspected members of the two confraternities were gruesomely matcheted to death.
The image maker of Ekiti state police command said "That the corpses of the six victims were immediately recovered and deposited in the mortuary while ten(10) suspects have been arrested so far in connection to the incident."
Abutu further stressed that the command through the state commissioner of police, Tunde Mobayo has ordered the deployment of additional Patrol vehicles comprising the RRS, Safer Highway Team, S.I.B and the Anti-cultism Unit to Ikere axis in order to activate an aggressive patrol and ensure that peace was fully maintained and no further breakdown of laws and order.
The statement enjoyed everyone to be calm and go about their lawful businesses as the Command would ensure that all the suspects involved were arrested and brought to book while additional military officers have been deployed to complement the efforts of the police in order to have relative peace in Ikere and its environs and appealed to members of the public
to volunteer information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects by contacting the nearest Police Station or call 08062335577.
The residents of Ikere Ekiti have been living in palpable fear since the yet to be identified cult groups struck due to the rivalry clash in between them.
