Afuye Greets Muslims as they end Ramadan Fasting

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, has commended Muslims across Ekiti State for their peaceful conduct during the Ramadan fasting which has come to an end.

The Speaker in a Statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, noted that the Muslims in the State observed the rules of social distancing all the protocols during the fasting. This, he said, showed that "Islam is truly a religion of peace and discipline".

He congratulated them for successfully completing the fasting and urged them never to allow the lessons of the fasting to go without any meaningful impacts on their lives.

Rt. Hon. Afuye who observed that "Ekiti is a State where Muslims and Christians coexist peacefully", opined that the State House of Assembly would always make laws that give credence to religious tolerance in the State.

It will be recalled that 30 days ago, Muslims started their Ramadan fasting during which the Speaker enjoined them to  gather in a single place for prayer because of the pandemic COVID-19. He expressed his happiness that the Muslim society obeyed the rules throughout the fasting period.
