Tourism: Ekiti State Parliamentary Delegation Visit South Africa

A delegation of members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly  will from 27  April – 3 May  2019 visit South Africa as part of their capacity development programme. According to the leader of delegation, the Speaker of the House, Right Honorable Adeniran  Alagbada, “We are pleased to have the opportunity to visit South Africa,  a country where Nigeria has a strong bilateral relationship. Nigeria has a  deep-rooted and broad-ranging partnership with South Africa  particularly in the areas of growing people-to-people ties, trade and investment, development and security cooperation.” He said that it was in furtherance of this relationship that the Ekiti State House of Assembly signed a Memorandum of Understanding  with the Guateng Legislature during the first tenure of the Fayemi Administration in 2013. Erelu, Oyegun, Udom, Former Ghanaian President Win Zik Leadership Prize

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, has won the 2018 Zik Leadership Prize for humanitarian Leadership. This was disclosed by the organisers of the annual Prize in Lagos during the week. Other winners of the 2018 Zik prize in leadership as announced by the organisers, include former Ghanaian President, John Mahama, immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie- Oyegun, who won in the political leadership category. Also the Governors of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel and his Niger State counterpart, Abubakar Sanni- Bello, emerged winners in the good governance award category. The Zik Prize in Leadership Awards was instituted 25 years ago in honour of the late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first President of Nigeria.  It was set up, among other things, to encourage and nurture leadership on the African Continent and in the Diaspora. By Abasi Femi Oguntayo The All Progressives Congress In the south west zone has felicitated with the governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, on his victory at the Supreme Court of Nigeria over the eligibility suit filed against him by Segun Oni. This was contained in a release by the Zonal Publicity Secretary of the APC in the South West, Oladapo Karounwi on Wednesday. According to the release, it happened during the visit of the leadership of the APC in the South West to the governor's office, led by the Zonal Chairman, Bankole Oluwajana. The leadership however celebrated the governor over his sterling performance since he assumed office about six months ago. The Zonal leaders commended the Governor for the unprecedented electoral feat achieved during the last elections as Ekiti state came first in the south west in all the elections. The Zonal executive members were impressed with the strength and stability of All Progressives' Congress (APC) in the state.

He mentioned that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with the China Law Society during the first tenure of Dr. Kayode Fayemi but it was abandoned after he left office in 2014. Ekiti State House of Assembly today, April 2, 2019, commenced legislative process for the approval and confirmation of fourteen commissioner designate in the state. This was sequel to the announcement of a letter from the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi to the Assembly, requesting for legislative approval to constitute the state executive.  Exactly 32 years ago today, the notorious bandit who terrorised Benin City and old Bendel State the 80s , Lawrence Nomanyagbon Anini  A.K.A. "Ovbigbo" or "the Law" and some members of his gang were  executed by firing squad after being convicted by the defunct Bendel Armed Robbery and Firearms Tribunal presided over by Justice James Omo-Agege    Anini was born in a village about 20 miles from Benin City in present-day Edo State. He migrated to Benin at an early age, learned to drive and became a skilled taxi driver. Anini became known in Benin motor parks as a man who could control the varied competing interests among motor park touts and operators. He later dived into the criminal business in the city and soon became a driver and transporter for gangs, criminal godfathers and thieves.
