Fayemi Grants Clemency To 18 Convicts

Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has accepted the recommendation of the Ekiti State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy to grant clemency to 18 prisoners serving various prison sentences in the Nigerian Correctional Services Facilities in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State and Kirikiri Maximum, Lagos State respectively.
According to a Statement issued and signed today, Sunday, 13th October, 2019 by the State Attorney General and Commissioner For Justice, Olawale Fapohunda, the Governor also granted State Pardon to one applicant.
The names of the beneficiaries are as follows:
1. STATE PARDON

Sylvanus Oferufega
Lucky Suberu

3) COMMUTAL OF DEATH SENTENCE TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT

These 18 Convicts were granted clemency out of 50 applications for considered by the Ekiti State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy at its third sitting.
The applications of these Beneficiaries were granted because they have individually demonstrated the potential to turn their lives around.
"On behalf of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, I congratulate all the beneficiaries specifically those who have been released from the Correctional Facilities. It is our expectation that these beneficiaries will make the best use of this second chance by being law abiding and good citizens", the Attorney General said.
