Find Afe Babalola's Accuser Elsewhere - Ekiti APC
Against the backdrop of a press statement by an Ado Ekiti group that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was behind a story that has gone viral on Chief Age Babalola, the APC in Ekiti State has washed its hands off it
A certain Elder Falade in an article he sent on social media accused Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) of conducts incongruous to his social standing as a statesman.
On Tuesday on the state media, a certain youths group had accused the party, saying its spokesman, Taiwo Olatunbosun, and another member of the party's media team, Hakeem Jamiu, were behind the publication to ridicule the senior lawyer.
But reacting to the allegation by Olatunbosun, the party said that its men knew nothing about the article, saying that the news report by the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State was the handiwork of mischief-makers to paint the party and its media handlers black and set Chief Babalola against the leaders of the party.
The reaction reads:
"Our attention has been drawn to a story on an online medium and Lere Okayinka's Ekiti State Broadcasting Service alleging that Hakeem Jamiu and Taiwo Olatunbosun were the brains behind an article that disparaged the personality of Chief Afe Babalola.
"We would have ignored this offensive write-up by a fictitious group which goes by the name, Ado Ekiti Youths, but for the unsuspecting public who may buy the blackmail from the staple of Ekiti State government.
"As usual, this is the handiwork of Fayose's loquacious media aides led by Lere Olayinka whose stock in trade is to blackmail anybody under the sun perceived to be against his master, Ayo Fayose.
"In the ignorance of Fayose's media aides, the article they accused Jamiu and Olatunbosun of writing has been trending since 2015 and we now wonder that they just discovered it was written by us in 2017. This is crass stupidity and irresponsibility.
"This is how the same Fayose's media aides accused the APC of writing an article to disparage a revered man of God when we knew nothing about it. They only kept quiet when we requested that all the curses in the Bible be invoked on the writer of the article.
"Just as we don't know anything about the article disparaging the man of God, we equally have nothing to do with the article disparaging Chief Afe Babalola, which has been trending since 2015 but which Fayose's media rats wanted the public to believe it was freshly written in 2017.
"Anybody who is familiar with the bolekaja(hit and run) style of Fayose will not be surprised about the latest accusation which is diversionary. Fayose and his goons during his first tenure pasted posters of Chief Afe Babalola all over the state as a gubernatorial aspirant to blackmail him when the man knew nothing about it.
Fayose since assumption of office in 2014, has been abusing elder statesmen and respectable Nigerian leaders including President Muhammadu Buhari up till now.
Fayose has said it openly that lying and blackmail are his major weapons against political opponents and this he has elevated to state policy.
"It is unfortunate that Fayose found his way back to the Government House because he represents everything that is anti-Ekiti omoluwabi ethos and he daily embarrasses and disgraces the people of Ekiti State known for their values and virtues of dignity and honour.
"Each time Fayose is faced with a serious problem from the polity, such as his deliberate policy of not paying workers salary and impoverishment of Ekiti people, which is gradually triggering a mass revolt against his iron rule, he will resort to this kind of blackmail to divert people's attention.
"We advise Fayose and his mindless lying media aides to employ other methods of seeking favours from Chief Afe Babalola instead of blackmailing innocent people whom they accused of writing to disparage the elder statesman.
"We reiterate once again that Hakeem Jamiu, Taiwo Olatunbosun and the APC in Ekiti State have nothing to do with the article disparaging Chief Afe Babalola. Our accusers should look elsewhere for the author.
"We advise Fayose to pay outstanding salary of Ekiti workers and and pensioners who are dying daily rather than blackmailing perceived political opponents to curry undeserved favours.
"Fayose will sooner than later account for all his crimes against Ekiti people and no amount of blackmail and distraction would save him from the impending judgment of history."
