Image
The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has described the disclosure on Thursday last week that more than half of the borders in the North East and North West of Nigeria are unguarded as very worrisome and disturbing because of the immense danger it poses to the security of Nigerians. In a Press Release by the organisation’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, Afenifere expressed regret that less than a year to the end of Press Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, the government is yet to take necessary steps on what the Army Chief considered as “a key source of criminality and violent crimes in those parts of the country”. It would be recalled that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor who confirmed that “our borders are largely unmanned”, further revealed that 137 out of about 261 borders in the North-East and North-West regions of the country are unguarded and that these porous borders accounted for the easy access of terrorists from neigbourin...

• APC tips to win 2023 Presidential election By Karounwi Oladapo August 29, 2022. If PDP has remained a united party like it was in 2019 Presidential election, APC would have been in serious trouble ahead of 2023 Presidential election for a number of reasons which are not the center piece of this article. However, the fortune of the PDP has nosedived and the Party has broken into three strong Political Parties in the build up to the 2023 Presidential election; the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led by Atiku Abubakar; the Nigeria National Peoples Party, NNPP, led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the Labour Party, LP, led by Peter Obi. All the three Presidential Candidates were leaders of the PDP up to the first quarter of this year 2022. It should be noted that no major or dominant party broke out of the very strong and dominant APC with the incumbency advantage at its disposal.  This means that the APC strong bases of North West and South West where it secured its majority votes in 2015...

Balkanization of Ekiti SDP - By Karounwi Oladapo

Image
Seven weeks after Segun Oni SDP lost Ekiti Gubernatorial election, the emergency Political Party, called SDP, that was not founded on any principle, ideology or manifesto; the party of the aggrieved from the PDP and APC; a special purpose vehicle put together only for the purpose of standing for election, is gradually disintegrating, despite a very feeble attempt to put something together, however illogical, and placed before the election petition tribunal, just to keep the unsuspecting and naive members of the party together with the false impression that all hope is not lost, when in reality, the Party is in a hopeless situation! The wise members of the Party have borrowed themselves sense and took a flight to either APC or PDP As at today, the two leadership of the party, the Governorship and Deputy Governorship Candidates have parted ways and divided the party down the middle. While the Segun Oni faction is now ATIKULATED, his Deputy, Ladi Owolabi faction, is now  BATIFIED. Sim...

The court in a judgment on Thursday delivered by the presiding judge, Justice Babs Kuewumi, threw out Ojo's case and agreed with the Oyebanji's counsel that the discrepancies in the originating processes had rendered the case academic. While the name on th...
