Fayemi never Tampared with LG Funds, Council Chair, Lawmaker
• ‘Statutory Deductions On First Line Charges Backed By Laws'
The Chairman, Ado North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Yomi Oso and a Member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Adeoye Aribasoye said Governor Kayode Fayemi has not tampered with funds due to local governments in the state.
While exonerating Governor Kayode Fayemi from allegation of deducting from councils monthly allocations, they dismissed the allegation levelled by the immediate past Chairman of Ado Local Government, Mrs. Omotunde Fajuyi, during a radio programme.
While featuring on a live radio programme, “Setigbo?”, Mr. Oso who served as Vice Chairman to Mrs. Fajuyi during her tenure said that there was never an occasion where Governor Fayemi demanded any amount from the local government Chairmen in the state.
Mr. Oso who explained that the statutory deductions and other items on the first line charges such as payment of LG staff salary, payment of primary school teachers, payment of health workers, payment of overhead to primary school teachers, payment of traditional institutions, payment of pensioners , proportional payment for training school, loans board, pension office, local government service commission, and others, were often set aside from the Council’s allocations, said these were being done as required by the laws and not Governor Fayemi's directive.
The council boss pointed out that if not for the introduction of Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) which helped local governments with large number of staffers like Ado Ekiti before it was divided into four LCDAs, the council area would not have been able to pay workers’ salaries or embark on meaningful projects after the statutory deductions .
On his part, Mr. Aribasoye described as unfounded, the claims of the former Ado Local Government Chairman that she only received seven million naira out of over one hundred million naira allocations on monthly basis.
He urged the public to ask Mrs. Fajuyi how she managed all the Internally Generated Revenue and other resources during her two years in office.
While emphasizing on the need to sustain the current pace of development across the towns and villages in Ekiti, Special Assistant on Media, Mrs. Mary Omotosho said that all Governor Fayemi’s programmes and policies were geared towards developing the State.
The three guests on the programme emphasized the need for electorate in Ekiti to vote Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji in the forthcoming governorship election in order to sustain the lofty programmes of Governor Fayemi on local government development areas in the state.
