Ex-NUJ Boss Joins APC in Fayose's Hometown
Former State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and retired director with the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES), Chief Laolu Omosilade, has joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Afao Ekiti, hometown of the former governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose on Sunday January 16, 2022.
Receiving the journalist in his hometown yesterday, the State Chairman of the party, Mr Paul Omotoso expressed delight that the party is waxing stronger in Afao Ekiti, the hometown of the former governor of the State, Mr Ayodele Fayose. The ward Chairman, Mr Oke Adejorin presented Chief Omosilade to State Chairman.
According to the APC State Chairman who was accompanied by his Deputy, Mr Sola Elesin and other State officers, "just as Chief Omosilade is a big fish, our party is also the biggest and most recognized in Nigeria and in deed Africa. That's why this combination is a good development in our State." He enjoined every member of the party in the town to extend hands of fellowship to the new comer.
Speaking at the event, one of the leaders in the town, Rtd Col. Tunde Oluwayose said; "Mr Laolu Omosilade has just retired from service and is joining APC officially because he has always been a progressive person all along. It is a wrong impression to think that there is no APC in Afao simply because Fayose is from here. I'm of the same parents with the former governor but we belong to different political parties."
Speaking after the State party Chairman raised his hands and presented him broom which is the simbol of the party, Omosilade said; "I've never joined any other party in my life except this progressive party because my father and our entire family in Afao were known progressives from the time of Action Group to the time of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and APC.". He urged the leadership of the party to remember Afao in all their activities so that others could be encouraged to join APC in the town.
Among those who came to receive Chief Omosilade was his predecessor in office as NUJ Chairman who is now Special Adviser, media to the Speaker of Ekiti State, Akogun Tai Oguntayo. Others at the event are; Elder Tope Omosilade, Mr Fiscal Commission Member, Lanre Fasuan, APC LG Deputy Chairman, Mr Olorunisola, High Chief Odolofin of Afao, Ali Dele and High Chief Asa, Dele Jejelowo.
