Ekiti Speaker Rejoices With Children on their Day

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, has rejoiced with Children on today's International Children's day. The Speaker, in a press statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, rejoiced with the children, describing them as future leaders of the nation. The United Nation in 1966 dedicated every 27th of May every year as International Children's Day. In commemorating the day, the Speaker urged parents to give their children the best. "Most importantly, I urge parents to give their wards quality education as the only legacy which they can bestow on them," the Speaker said. Ikere Killings: Ekiti Govt Summons Ogoga, Olukere

• Warns Against Meetings That Can Cause Tension. The Ekiti State Government on Friday summoned the Ogoga of Ikere, Oba Adejimi Adu and the Olukere, Ganiyu Obasoyin over the cult-related killings in the town. The Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, warned that there should be no meeting on either side that can cause tension in the town. According to a statement signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Deputy Governor, Odunayo Ogunmola, stressed that community leaders in Ikere must allow peace to reign in the town. The Deputy Governor warned the Obas and chiefs not to allow any violence in the town and any breach of peace shall be sanctioned. He also urged Ikere residents to report any criminal or cult members to the Police. Ekiti MOJ Commences Compulsory, Free Medical Examination of Staff

In furtherance of the Attorney General's commitment to enabling healthy living of all those who work in his Ministry, the State Ministry of Justice will today begin compulsory cardiovascular risk screening for all staff of the Ministry. According to a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Attorney General on Public Education, Media and Communication, Olalekan Suleman, “the Ministry of Justice is grateful for this constructive partnership with the Ministry of Health and Human Services.  “The Attorney General recognizes the pressure placed on staff in providing efficient and speedy delivery of legal services to the government and people of Ekiti State. It is therefore necessary that staff are constantly supported to achieve healthy living” Suleman also said that various types of tests will be conducted on all staff of the Ministry including Body Mass Index, Blood pressure level, Blood Sugar.
