Ekiti Speaker Admonishes Legislative Staff Over Strike



The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Funminiyi Afuye has admonished members of   Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, (PASAN) Ekiti State Chapter to be gentle in their agitation for the implementation of financial autonomy in the legislative arm of government.


Afuye in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, appealed to the leadership of the legislative staff to shelve the indefinite strike embarked upon by its members in the interest of all, stating that there is ongoing engagement  between the Conference of State Speakers, the Governors' Forum and other Stakeholders towards the resolution of the issues. PASAN should allow the process to be complete before taking position. 


The Speaker, while expressing solidarity with the workers, stressed the importance of a continuous engagement with government.


"No matter how good the workers' demands may be, without tact and mutual understanding, nothing can be achieved," He said


Afuye who assured of government readiness to always prioritise workers' welfare and stated that the House will do all within its power to ensure workers get their dues.
