Confusion As Factional Excos Emerge in Ekiti PDP

  Crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ekiti state has taken another dimension as two different state executives emerged during today’s Congress held in Ado Ekiti. At one of the delegates Congress held in Ado-Ekiti, Chief Bisi Kolawole was elected as the new chairman of the PDP with a total vote of 1651. In his acceptance speech, Chief Kolawole said the election of the state executive was the beginning of a new dawn in the party, with a promise to promote unity among members and bring development to the party. On his part, a Former Governor, Chief Segun Oni urged PDP members in the state to come together and champion the course of the party.   .... warring groups apologise to CoS By Our Reporters  Ekiti State Government has assured that no resident of the state would be treated unjustly for any reason whatsoever as it waded into the crisis within Ireakari and unity estates in Ado Ekiti over access roads to the areas. The head of Government delegation and Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Elder Samuel Abejide, gave the assurance in Ado Ekiti during a peace meeting with representatives of the communities on Thursday. This is even as representatives of the communities absolved the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Biodun Omoleye of any complicity in the crisis and tendered apologies to him for being wrongly accused. EKSU Don Emerges COECSO Leader

  A senior lecturer at the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Prof Christopher Oluwadare has emerged the State Chairman of the Coalition of Ekiti Civil Society Organizations (COECSO) in a keenly contested election conducted. Oluwadare, a Professor of Medical Sociology who is also the National Vice President of Okemesi Community High School Old Students' Associstion (OCHSOSA), won the election conducted on Thursday 13th August, 2020 in Ado Ekiti. The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Pastor Peter Akosile, in a statement said; "on behalf of the Election Committee, I appreciate God and all members for the success of the just concluded election today, Thursday 13th August, 2020. I pray God to continue to give the organisation  direction to succeed in the running of the organization." Police Quiz ANA Member, Wife Over Criminal Libel

  The Nigeria Police has quizzed a member of Oyo State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Mr Abolade Olukokun and his wife, Opeyemi Olukokun, over their alleged criminal libel and threat to the life of the Special Adviser to the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Akogun Tai Oguntayo. The police had been on the trail of Mr Abolade Olukokun since February 2nd this year when he declined invitation by the Iyaganku Divisional Crime Officer, Mr Ayodeji on the ground that the division did not fall within his (Olukokun's) jurisdiction. Akogun Oguntayo who doubles as the National General Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Authors however petitioned the Police Area Command where a massive haunt was launched before Olukokun's wife's shop was discovered at new Oluyole Estate in Ibadan where she was served police invitation on Monday 3rd, August 2020.
