By Tai Oguntayo Reacting to the story titled; “Tribute to Ancient Yoruba Chief of Defence Staff, Ogedengbe” written by Mr Wale Adeoye on the historic Ekitiparapo war has been an herculean task for me in the last few days. Apart from the fact that the writer is a fellow journalist who is doing well in this pen pushing business, he is also one of the few Ekiti illustrious sons and highly cerebral colleagues that I accord so much respect. I’m therefore at a crossroad of how to do a critique of his story which is at variance with available facts and records by renowned authorities without burning bridges. However, a lot of people especially those who know me as the author of FABUNMI EKITIPARAPO, a book which is currently on the recommended list of Ekiti State Ministry of Education, have been challenging me on some salient and fundamental issues in Adeoye’s story considering the many contradictions in the said story as opposed to other researches by eminent historians on the Kirij

LG Polls: Candidates Emerge As APC Postpones Ado, Ikole, Omuo Primaries

By Abasi Femi Oguntayo Primary elections were held Yesterday, Saturday, September 28th, 2019 in some Local Government Areas in Ekiti State with over 10 Candidates emerging as flag bearers of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming Council Election in December. As at the time of filing this report, Hon. Ropo Ige was said to be  Confirmed as the Chairmanship Candidate of the APC in Ijero Local Government Area, Hon. Amire emerged in Ekiti Southwest, Otunba Femi Ayodele emerged in Ikere Local Government. Others are; Engr Bode Adetunji as Chairmanship Candidate of the APC in Efon Local Government, Hon. Tutor General Welcomes Teachers, Students to School ... Reads Riot Act to Negligent Staff

The Tutor General for Ekiti central zone Chief (Mrs) Oluwatoyin Arogundade has welcomed the students and workers of public secondary schools in the state back to school on their resumption for a new academic session. Mrs Arogundade also congratulated the new intakes into secondary schools on their admission, urging them to make use of the opportunity by facing their studies squarely. She appealed to the teachers to redouble their efforts for the educational development in the state and prayed that God crowned their effort with success. Chief Mrs Arogundade reiterated government's free education policy and reminded parents that they would be held responsible for any child found roaming the streets or hawking during school hours. The Tutor General commended Governor Kayode Fayemi for his motivation, innovation and support for the education sector and hereby wished the students and workers a fruitful and successful academic session.

Ekiti Speaker Condemns Attack On Governor's Wife, Says: House'll Investigate it

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly has condemned Tuesday's attack on the entourage of the wife of the State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, during a protest by students of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti. In a press statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, Hon Afuye condemned the unprovoked attack in its entirety, stressing  that the protest might have been hijacked by some unscrupulous elements, who joined the protest. The Speaker therefore called on the Nigeria Police Force to investigate this criminal act in earnest to unravel those behind it as ''the house is also going to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the attack so as to forestall a future reoccurrence''.
