Olomilua, Borisade Bag IIJ Awards ... As Ekiti Speaker Delivers Lecture

The duo of Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Value Orientation, Are Muyiwa Olomilua and the Special Assistant to Governor Kayode Fayemi on New Media, Abiodun Borisade have been presented awards of excellence by the Student Body of the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Ado-Ekiti campus.
The Speaker of Ekiti State, Rt Hon Funmilayo Afuye also gave a key note address at the event which took place at the Erelu Bisi Fayemi Hall of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), along NTA Road, Ado-Ekiti, yesterday July 25, 2019. It was organized by the Students' Representative Council (SRC) to appreciate the duo for their outstanding contributions to the development and promotion of the fourth estate of the realm.
The Speaker was represented by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo who doubles as the Chairman of the Academic Board of the Ado Ekiti campus of the Institute. He charged journalists to always performance their traditional roles of news dissemination without fear or favour. He also enjoined them to lift the standard of the journalism school in Ekiti.
The Commissioner bagged the Outstanding Politician of the Year Award, while Abiodun Borisade bagged the Outstanding Social Media Influencer of the Year Award.
The Commissioner is his acceptance speech thanked the Student Body as well as the management of the Institution for counting him worthy of such honour, even with numerous outstanding politicians in the State. He however pledge to support the growth and development of the Institute.
Also In his acceptance speech, the Special Assistant New Media to Governor Kayode Fayemi, Abiodun Borisade, said that relentless effort is key to socio-economic development and that he would continue to do his best in serving the state in every area possible.
'I have always learnt that consistency in self-development cannot be over emphasized. New Media, also known as social media has provided several platforms for us to showcase the good works of His Excellency, Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s administration in Ekiti State,” he said.
Aborisade however commended the students for putting up such event, pledged his unending loyalty to the institute and dedicated the award to everyone who has supported his work in one way or the other.
Other Dignitaries present at the event include; the Director General of Arts and Culture in Ekiti State, Comrade Wale Ojo-Lanre, APC Chairmanship Aspirant for Ado-Ekiti Local Government, Mrs. Fajuyi Omotunde; Nigeria Union of Journalists Ekiti State Chairman, Lion Rotimi Ojomoyela; Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Speaker, Mrs. Kemi Ajibola among others.
