Foundation Donates Multimillion Naira Worth Materials To Govt Hospital

A Obaro and her husband Prof. Obaro, has through the project 'Bridge The Gap' donated Hospital Equipments worth several millions of Naira to the Okemesi Ekiti General Hospital. 

The event which took place yesterday, Thursday, May 17, 2019 at the premises of the General Hospital Okemesi had in attendance notable men and women from Okemesi Ekiti as it was a moment of jubilation for the people of the town.

The Mact Foundation's overriding objective is to seek and work with individuals, governmental and non governmental bodies and institutions to bridge the gap between the western African sub region and the West in the fields of Medicine, Agriculture, Culture and Technology. 

One of the coordinators of the foundation, Mrs A. O. Obaro said the donation was just in fulfilment of the objectives of the foundation which she and her husband coordinte. According to her,  what they did was just to showcase leadership by example and it was for the benefit of the people. 

"We are not doing this to gain any recognition or appointment from the government at all, this is for the benefit of the people. We have done a lot of programmes like this in the northern parts of Nigeria and we thought it was high time we brought it to Ekiti State and my town, Okemesi Ekiti should be the beneficiary", she said. 

President of the Federation of Okemesi Improvement Union (FOIU) Alhaji Ajijola who was present at the occasion was thankful to Mrs Obaro and her husband for such a laudable move to move the town forward in terms of the medical assistant rendered to the community. 

He said: "Okemesi is very grateful for this and we promise to take good care of these materials and also take the inventories. I thereby urge workers in the hospital to make proper use of the materials, so that the donor can be proud to do more".

Oba Michael Gbadebo Adedeji, the Owa Oye of Okemesi also in his reaction to the gesture by the MACT Foundation thanked them for thinking of Okemesi Ekiti.  He also acknowledged the fact that it was during the first term of Dr John Kayode Fayemi that major buildings in the hospital were commissioned and now the place was also equipped during his second coming. 

According to the Oba: "the government could not do everything which is why we as a people need to develop our towns as proud sons and daughters of the town, just like Mrs Obaro has done.

"Well, I know this present government is one who loves the people and the governor is an Omoluabi, we need more help in Okemesi. We lack a lot of equipments and machines here in the General hospital. We need an ambulance, we need electricity power supply. 

"We are hereby calling on the government to also come to the aide of the town in the maintenance of the General hospital, we as a community are trying our best and we want the government to also compliment our efforts. 

"Okemesi is blessed with a lot of successful and notable people all around the globe. You all should come home and invest in your town. Learn from Mrs Obaro, even though she is married to and outsider, she never forgot her town. Come and develop Okemesi, whether you go to east, south, west or north, you will all finally come back and settle down in Okemesi, you should have good things to settle down with when you come. 

The Representative of the Governor at the event who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, also from Okemesi commended the coordinator of Mact Foundation, Mrs Obaro and her husband for the giant stride they have taken. 

He also acknowledged the fact that it was not the first time the foundation would be doing such. According to him, when he was supervisor for health in Ekiti West Local Government in 2000, they also brought drugs to the hospital. 

He however promised to make this feat known to the governor and also make sure their efforts were complimented by way of maintenance and urged the donor to do the inventory of the items donated for safe keeping. 

The Chairman Hospital board,  Alhaji M. K Lawal thanked donor and also said, the Attorney General and Commissioner for justice, Olawale Fapohunda should also be acknowledged because it was during his first time as commissioner that the hospital was rehabilitated through the governor Kayode Fayemi administration.

He however called on the government to see this as a call to do more for the town because they needed more of such things.
