Fapohunda Briefs Lawmakers on Importance of Executive Bills

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapohunda  led a team of directors from the Ministry of Justice and cabinet members of the State government to brief members of the State House of Assembly on four executive bills currently being considered by House.

The Bills are: The Administration of Civil Justice Bill 2019, The Ekiti State Development and Investment Agency Bill 2019, The College of Agriculture and Technology Ishan Ekiti Bill 2019 and the Ekiti State Property Protection ( Anti Land Grabbing ) Bill 2019.

The House had  invited the Attorney-General  to provide additional information on the four executive bills specifically on their relevance to the socio-economic development of Ekiti State.

Fapohunda in his presentation said that these Bills were proposed in furtherance of the economic development agenda of the  Fayemi administration. He said collectively the implementation of these bills will lead to job creation and ease of doing business in Ekiti State. 

Key persons who addressed the house on the Bills were, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment, Trade and Innovation, Mr. Akintunde Oyebode, Technical Adviser, Agriculture Transformation, Engr. Ilesanmi, Director Legal Drafting, Ministry of Justice, Ekanem Akpan and Director Civil Litigation, Ministry of Justice, SBJ Bamishe.

Right Honourable Adeniran Alagbada, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly  assured the Attorney-General that the bills will be given swift consideration as no time would be wasted on them. Stressing that the House recognised the urgency for job creation and economic growth. He said bills  when enacted into law  would be of great benefit not just to investors but to the people of the State as it would improve their standard of living.

ANA Faction Loses Court Case, Risks Being Docked For Contempt of Court

The National Executive of a faction of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) led by Mr. Camilus Ukah has lost its bid to challenge the jurisdiction of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, in a pending originating summons against them and the faction it constituted for Abuja, under the Chairmanship of Mrs. Usman Halima.
