Ekiti Bishop, Omotunde Asks Judges To Seek God’s Face While Discharging Their Duties

The Bishop of Ekiti Anglican diocese, the Most Rev. C.T. Omotunde has charged the judges in Ekiti state to always seek the face of god while discharging their duties. Rev. Omotunde made this remark today in his sermon on cathedral church of Emmanuel , Okesa, Ado Ekiti, the State capital.

Earlier, the governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi had took the first lesson from the book of Deuteronomy 1:16-18, while the Chief Judge of Ekiti, justice  Ayo Daramola took the second lesson from the book of Mathew 7:1-12.

Rev. Omotunde thanked God Almighty for the peaceful beginning of this Legal Year and used the occasion to congratulate the governor and his deputy on their assumption into office. He reminded the judges through the first lesson that it was biblical as he linked it with Moses in the bible who happened to be the first judge, when he appointed seventy elders as other judges placing himself above them as the Chief Justice.

The clergy however stated the Godly qualifications a judge must have to include; truthfulness, wisdom like Solomon, dignified style passion for justice and equity, contentiousness, strong and courageous and also to be incompatible. He also charged other institutions of justice, lawyers, police, court clerks, prison officials to perform their duties in accordance to the rule of law.

The Chief Judge of Ekiti state, Justice Ayo Daramola thanked God and his colleagues for their cooperation so far and asked them to continue in that bearing.

The governor of Ekiti state, Dr kayode Fayemi thanked the Bishop for his sermon and advice to the judges which according to him would go a long way in the administration of justice.

The Deputy Governor of Ekiti state Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, who is also a lawyer together with his wife, graced the occasion. Other dignitaries together who attended the special service were the attorney general of Ekiti State and commissioner for justice, Barrister Wale Fapohunda, the Ewi of Ado- Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejiyigbe, the Ogoga of Ikere- Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Alagbado, the Elekole of Ikole Ekiti, also Ekiti State high court Judges, Magistrates, lawyers and a host of others.
