EM Launches Election Monitoring App in Ekiti

One of the 54 Election Observer groups accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), The Election Monitor, has on Saturday July 7, 2018, launched the E-Compare Ekiti 2018 governorship election mobile and web Applications in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.

The launching of the application which was held at the pastoral center, Ikere road, Ado-Ekiti had in attendance, candidates and leaders of political parties, INEC officials, security agents, pressmen and various stakeholders in the State.
One of the party stakeholders present at the occasion, condemned the inducement of voters with money at the polling unit and agitated that it be dealt with.
The commissioner of Police Bello Hammed, who was represented at the event by the area commander of Ado Ekiti Command Julie Kemi Also said, the police are ready for the election and enjoined political parties to make sure their members were well behaved during and after the election.
She said, misinformation is one of the major causes of electoral violence. She thereby urged the general public to desist from misinformation especially in this period of election.
The chairman of the People's Democratic Party, Gboyega Oguntuase who was present at the event, while responding to the commissioner of Police's address said, the police should be fair and unbiased in their dealings with various political parties during the period of election.
Olusegun Adeleye governorship candidate of the United Democratic Party (UDP) was also at the event. He urged the Police to Make sure all the security measures were put in place and that every fake man in uniform was identified and fished out.
Another stakeholder at the event, urged INEC to give a level playing ground to all political parties and make sure no party is being segregated.
The national chairman of Election Monitor Mr. Abiodun Ajijola, however presented and gave information about the mobile and web applications and said the applicatione were developed to ensure transparency in the collation of results, as it gives political parties the advantage of monitoring election result even before it is being declared.
He said, the with application one can get the final State result in a governorship election by imputing the results as been counted and announced at all polling units, then the application would automatically calculate and give the expected final State results.
