Justice Banjoko |
Contrary to criticism that President Muhamadu Buhari is only favourably disposed to judgments against alleged corrupt members in the opposition, Fountain Newsbreaker gathers that the President has promoted the Judge which sent two former governors and members of the ruling All Progressive Congress to a total of 28 years imprisonment.
Justice Adebukola Banjoko has reportedly been appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
The appointment comes following the judge’s recent sentencing of two ex-governors to jail on corrupt charges, Independent reports. More details coming...
It could be recalled that Justice Adebukola Banjoko is rapidly becoming a symbol of fearless and impartial justice in the Nigerian judiciary. In what can be considered an unprecedentedly fearless and bold move, the tough female judge successfully convicted and sent Jolly Nyame, former governor of Taraba, and Joshua Dariye, former governor of Plateau state to jail.
Nyame was sentenced to 14 years in prison without an option of fine, on May 3; and on Tuesday, June 12, Justice Banjoko delivered another landmark judgement, when she sentenced Joshua Dariye, a former governor of Plateau state, to 14 years in prison.
