NLC Holds Emergency Meeting Over Fuel Subsidy Removal

Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) has fixed a meeting with the Representatives of the Federal Government Today, 31st May, 2023 by 2pm over the planned removal of fuel subsidy. The NLC National President, Joe Ajaero, made the disclosure during an interview with the Press on Wednesday morning. In the interview, He said, "the position of Labour had been clear that even if President Bola Tinubu had a good intention, alternatives must be provided" He said, "the President should have asked questions and found out the implications of fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians on the streets. The NLC boss listed the alternatives to include the repair of the nation’s four refineries, provision of transportation of alternatives for the Nigerian workers, amongst others. “The pronouncement by Mr President is as good as law and if in the process we make a law that is not practicable, the same people that made the law can look at it,” Ajaero said while calling for a review of the President’s pronou

  By Adeboye Ado, Akure Fountain Newsbreaker Against the backdrop of the inter agency rivalry between the Department of State Security Service (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) earlier today, President Bola Tinubu has directed the latter to immediately vacate the former's office which it besieged in Ikoyi, Lagos State.  The President who promised to wade into the matter to resolve whatever differences, gave the directive on Tuesday when it was brought to his attention. In a statement on Tuesday by Tunde Rahman, on behalf on behalf of Tinubu, he quoted the president as saying if there were issues between the two important agencies of government, they would be resolved amicably.

Oyebanji Summons Fuel Marketers, Warns Against Hoarding

  Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has summoned fuel marketers in Ekiti State today (Tuesday) in his after after warning them not to hoard the fuel because of President Bola Tinubu's statement on the removal of fuel subsidy. This invitation was contained in a press release signed by the Special Adviser on media to the governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode. NNPC Welcomes Tinubu's Fuel Subsidy Removal, Warns Nigerians Against Panic Buying

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has welcomed the pronouncement of President Bola Tinubu on the removal of fuel subsidy. According to the post made on their Facebook page, NNPC has urged Nigerians to stay calm and not to panic buy fuel. They assert that the removal of fuel subsidy is in the best interest of the country and that it will help to improve the economy. The company has also said that it is working to ensure that there is no shortage of fuel in the country. "In his inaugural address on Monday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared an end to the era of subsidy payment, stating that the 2023 budget did not provide for fuel subsidy, making further payment unjustifiable" Responding to this, the NNPC held an emergency press conference at the NNPC Towers in Abuja, stating that the move was in the company’s best interest. The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday 29th, 2023, work free for all workers in the country, to commemorate the inauguration of the nation's 16th democratically elected President. The declaration was made by the Hon.
