Afuye Greets Muslims On Ramadan Kareem



The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye has greeted Muslims in the state on the sighting of the moon which signals the commencement of the Ramadan fasting.


The Speaker's greeting is contained in a press release signed by the Special Adviser, Media to the Speaker, Akogun Tai Oguntayo in Ado Ekiti.


The Speaker noted that this is a time of sober reflection and cleansing for our Muslim faithfuls.  The Ramadan is a period to pray for ourselves, families, the State, the nation and indeed the world". 


We should all count ourselves lucky to be alive to witness this year's Ramadan fasting despite the novel corona virus pandemic that has been ravaging the entire humanity." He noted that we must all be grateful to Almighty Allah. 


Afuye then urged Muslim brothers and sisters to stay safe by keeping to the COVID-19 protocols.  He urged them to also pray for our dear State and Nigeria as a whole.


"This year's fasting programme is here and we give glory to Allah for sparing our lives to witness it. We should however avoid overcrowding during the service to avoid  contracting the deadly corona virus which is still very much with us," the speaker said.


He also said that the COVID-19 vaccine is now here and advised the people not to run away from taking it noting that "it is in our interest."


"The sighting of the moon was announced by the Sadauna of Sokoto yesterday to herald the beginning of Ramadan fasting for all Muslims in Nigeria.
