Borno which has her motto as the ‘Home of Peace’ has become the entire opposite of this phrase, just like Nigeria who's referred to as the Giant of Africa is gradually diminishing into the opposite, courtesy of our so-called leaders. Nigeria answers the acronym immediately after the independence up to the eighties. But hope is not lost in as much as Nigeria as a country exists.
Recently, there have been consistent attacks in the major parts of the country most especially in the northern areas which is an eyesore to the state of the nation in this 21st century. Although, these attacks are gradually drifting to the southern areas due to the laissez-faire attitude of the government to the issue of security.
The murder of the 43 rice farmers in Bornu which Zambari villagers at Bornu state claimed was more but wouldn't like to disclose how much they were other than the 43 that has earlier been mentioned.
More than 300 boys have been missing too after the gunmen raided in a secondary school in the northwestern part of Nigeria and this is the same country where after six years of the Chibok girls abduction, it ought to decrease but keeps increasing and it looks like crime and other activities which are unheard of has made the country it's abode.
These and many more that the news might not be privileged to capture are the current impediment that has befallen the nation, an average Nigerian cannot dare to sleep with two eyes closed any longer .
The Federal Government needs to be more alive to her duty and the oaths signed as a responsible and responsive government to protect the citizens. This should not be an obligation rather a constitutional duty to protect her citizens. A situation where citizens are abducted, killed and assassinated without proactive response from government is a failure on the part of the government.
