Falegan's Death, colossal loss to Nigeria - Ekiti Speaker
The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, has described the death of the first Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Chief Samuel Bamidele Falegan as a colossal loss to Nigeria.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, the speaker described Falegan's death as a monumental loss, not only to Ekiti State where the deceased contributed immensely to its creation but also to the entire nation where he made a great impact on her financial institutions".
"We will miss Chief Falegan in many areas; as an author, finance wizard and a patriot to the core. He was one of the finest directors of the apex bank in Nigeria." The release stated. Chief Falegan was the Director of Research of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Afuye further revealed that "the history of the creation of Ekiti State can never be complete without a mention of this United States of American trained economist". Two of his trailblazing books are; 'Redeeming Nigeria's Financial Institutions" and "The trend in Nigeria's balance of payment and policy measures needed for self reliance."
The Speaker commiserated with the family of Chief Falegan and urged them to rejoice in the Lord for "Baba lived a Spartan and disciplined life that is worthy of emulation."
He also charged Ekiti people to borrow a leaf from Chief Falegan who, he said, "was an example of Ekiti mantra - Oni Uyi, Oni Eye."
