Ekiti Deputy Speaker hails Muslims on Eid-el-fitr celebration


The Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hakeem Jamiu has congratulated Muslim faithfuls in Ekiti state and beyond on the celebration of the Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fasting period.

Jamiu in a press Statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti charged Muslims not to see the end of Ramadan fasting as feast and merry making time, but to also see it as a period for seeking God’s forgiveness and spiritual rebirth.

He called on all Muslims across the country to sustain their new state of spiritual rebirth and solicit almighty Allah’s intervention in order that he (Allah)may continue to shower his grace on Nigeria and wipe out every pandemic bedeviling the Nation .

The Deputy Speaker who regretted that this year, eld-el-fitir celebration is coming at the crucial time in the nation history, as COVID-19 is ravaging the world wants Muslim faithful to strictly comply with the all laid down rules of physical distancing, hand washing with alcohol based sanitizer and apply their nose & mouth covering mask while at public forum.

The lawmaker who is representing Irepodun / Ifelodun constituency-2 at the State House of Assembly also urged those privileged in society to express love to their needy neighbors by sharing with them the joy of the eid-el-fitr.

He added that being benevolent to one’s neighbour and humanity at large are parts of the exemplary life of prophet Mohammad SAW and doing such will make their five rakat accepted before the most high Allah.

He also encouraged Muslims to sustain the lessons learnt during Ramadan such as humility, fear of Almighty Allah, forgiveness, obedience, care for the poor, needy and orphans, among other good virtues.

The legislator who wished muslim umar happy ed-el-fitr also appealed to them to continue praying for peace to prevail across Nigeria, stressing that peace is critical to the corporate existence of the Nation.
