Adebayo's Appointment, Round Peg in Round Hole - Ekiti Speaker

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye has described the appointment of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo as a round peg in a round hole. The Speaker made this known in a press release signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akogun Tai Oguntayo in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday. South West Association of Nigerian Authors (SWANA) holds its third conference today in Ado just as the Ekiti Chapter honours the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye, Chief of State to the Governor, Hon Biodun Omoleye and former Legal Adviser of the association, Barr Ahmed Maiwada. This event is coming up a day after the investiture of the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, as the Grand Patron of the association in Ekiti State yesterday. Just like the investiture of the Governor, the dinner will be attended by the National President, Mallam Denja Abdullahi and two former Presidents of the association, Odia Ofeimun and Dr Okediran respectively. Omoleye who made the charge yesterday, Thursday, 8th August, 2019 at the  2019 SDGs International Youth Day held at the Lady Jibowu Hall of the Government house grounds in Ado-Ekiti, said the world is now a global village, hence they should make good use of this to compete with their contemporaries globally. Ekiti Assembly Commends Fayemi Over Projects

Ekiti State House of Assembly has commended the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on his administration's efforts at implementing the various on going projects in the State Capital, Ado Ekiti and other parts of the state. Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transportation, Hon Gboyega Aribisogan gave the commendation at a working visit to the office of the State Commissioner for Works in Ado-Ekiti. Hon Aribisogan specifically mentioned the Ado-Iyin new dualization road, the Civic Center, the Pavilion and Oja Oba market as legacy projects aimed at transforming the landscape of Ekiti State. Employment: Ekiti SUBEB Suspends Recruitment Process, Opts For Electronic Application

The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced a temporary suspension of the ongoing recruitment of teachers into public primary schools in the state. This followed the huge crowd of job seekers that thronged the headquarters of the board in Ado-Ekiti on Monday. A good percentage of the applicants do not fall into the category of personnel advertised by the board. The Chairman of the Board, Prof. Francisca Aladejana disclosed the postponement in an interview with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday,, hours after the commencement of the exercise. She said the recruitment process was put on hold in order to prevent stampede among the thousands of applicants that  thronged the SUBEB office to collect the application forms. Ekiti Speaker Averts Face-Off Among Okada Riders... As Motorcyclists Call for Proscription of Okada Riders' Union

It took the timely intervention of the House of Assembly leadership under the Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye yesterday to save Ekiti State from the face off among motorcyclists which could have led to wanton destruction of lives and property. Crisis broke out when motorcyclists known as Okada Riders' Association stormed the House of Assembly to protest against the exploitation and harassment by their colleagues who were obstructing their daily business on the road. The protest was led by Mr Ogundele Filani who was apparently fuming while explaining their grievances to the Speaker. Rt Hon Afuye, sensing the tensed up anger in the Okada riders who were numbering over 500 at the Assembly complex, appealed to them to maintain peace and resolve issues through dialogue rather than violence.
