A governorship hopeful under the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State Capt. Su nday Adebomi, has condemned the approach of the governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose to tackle the issue of killer-herdsmen in the State.
Adebomi made this assertion at another edition of ‘My Agenda’, a program organized by the Ekiti State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), held at the press centre hall along Ilawe road, Ado-Ekiti, according to him, security personnel should be allowed to tackle the menace. “Fayose is just exposing the lives of innocent people to danger by telling them to fight herdsmen. You need professionals to tackle insurgency, not hunters, as security personnel, I want to say, that the killing by the herdsmen is political”. He therefore promised to make security of lives and property his top priority if elected as governor of the State.
The retired US Army captain maintained he is committed to maintain peace and tranquility in the state. While delivering his speech ‘why I want to be governor’ captain Sunday said he is ready to put all his years of experience to use in developing the State. “I will use my experience as a retired captain of the US Army to coordinate best security apparatus and State Security Intelligence Agency that will liaise with the Nigeria Army and our Police force to make sure that no life or business is at risk in Ekiti State”.
The Ikere born politician, who hails from Ise-Ekiti, revealed that he never liked politics and never wanted to be involved in politics, not until 2010 in Iraq when God called on him. He became very sure of   this after several revelations, he did not want to be like Jonah, and so he had to go. “I am not hungry for position. I came into politics to fight the oppressors, to fight the so-called ‘akuko gagara’ oppressing the people and hat is why people call me ‘ekun oko Fayose, Ijaya gbogbo aspirant’”, he added.
Adebomi who maintained to have no godfather in politics said he only had leaders, “it is not as if I do not have leaders, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Dr. John Kayode Fayemi are my leaders in the party but Engr. Segun Oni who ought to be a leader to me has chosen to be a fellow contestant and I am saying categorically that he will be defeated”. He also declared that his ambition can never be negotiated and that, it is a fight to finish.
While reacting to questions by journalists on how prepared he is for the primary election, the governorship hopeful said, majority of the delegates are youths, and so if they fail to vote for him, they have failed themselves. He went further by saying as a young man in his early forties, he is ready to empower the youths and fight for their course. “When will it be the chance of my generation? If these old people in politics are still oppressing us and we allow them, then my generation is in doom. I was nine years old when Buhari was head of State” he lamented.
When asked why he decided to contest under the APC when it is clear that he is the youngest among the aspirants and not a youth party, he said he wanted a better platform to showcase himself, which was why he had chosen the APC.
With him at the event with was his campaign Director General, (Mr. Yemi Oso) who he claimed to be the youngest DG in the history of Nigeria if not in Africa today. Also present at the event were the executives of the NUJ in Ekiti State and representatives of chapels and media houses in the state.
