Road Accident Claims Five Lives In Ondo

By Adeboye Ado  No fewer than 5 travellers lost their lives in a lone accident that occurred in Ikaram Akoko, in the Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State. While others sustained varying degrees of injuries, it was gathered that the 18-seater bus conveying the victims had one of its tyre busted on high speed, leading to loss of wheel control. An eyewitness said that the tyre busted along a junction leading to two neighboring communities, said the incident had since thrown the agrarian community into mourning. “It happened very close to a junction leading to Ajowa and Akunnu Akoko, infact tears rolled down today. Governor Biodun Oyebanji Signs Five Laws

In line with the administration’s Governance agenda, the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has signed five new laws, following their passage by the state House of Assembly.  In a press release statement signed by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode, he says that the signing of the new laws came barely five days after the Governor signed three laws at a brief ceremony on the last day of the sixth Assembly.  The newly signed laws are:Ekiti State local Government staff loans board law, 2023, Ekiti State Fire Service Law. 2023, Ekiti State Wealth and Fund Law, 2023. Ekiti State Local Government Administration Law, 2023, Yoruba language preservation and promotion law 2023.  Governor Oyebanji restates his administration’s commitment to promoting good governance through relevant legislations and policies that have direct impact on the people.  

Hillside University, 36 Others Get NUC Licence

As Owa Ooye, FOIU Congratulates Proprietor Hillside University of Science and Technology in Okemesi Ekiti and 36 other Universities newly established by the Federal Government have been presented provisional licence of operation by the National Universities Commission (NUC ). This epoch making event took place in Abuja today where the Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed presented the licences to the universities making the number of private universities in the country to now stand at 147. Prof Rasheed, who said that the country now has 264 universities, said that investment in tertiary education was a pre-requisite for human capital development in the country. It would be recalled that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on May 15. The Executive Secretary said that access to university education remained a challenge due to the high demand and increasing number of secondary school graduates. IIJ Asks Students To Pay School Fees, Announces Matric, Exam Dates

The International Institute of Journalism, Ado Ekiti campus has asked its students to pay their school fees while announcing the date for the first term examination. The State coordinator of the International Institute of Journalism, Mr Dare Daniel made this declaration during a meeting with the students of the institute on crucial matters relating to the students today, 8th June, 2023. Mr Dare who encouraged every students to pay up their school fees, said this would fasten the preparation for the forthcoming Matriculation which will hold on 20th June, 2023. The coordinator announced the date for the examination as 22nd June, 2023. He promised the students that the school would make available everything needed for the examination.
