Adeyeye's Loss at Appeal: Fayemi Reacts

The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has described Wednesday’s ruling of the Court of Appeal that nullified the election of  Senator, representing Ekiti South, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, as painful. Dr Fayemi said more painful was the fact that the ruling of the Appellate Court that sat in Kaduna, remained final in the matter. He therefore urged Senator Adeyeye to remain calm despite the judicial pronouncement, saying that the ruling, though shocking and unexpected, is not the end of his political career nor his public service. The Governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, described Senator Adeyeye as a dogged fighter and a politician of repute who is loved by his people. By Abasi Femi Oguntayo In a Video that has been making the round recently, it was reported that the founder of Afe Babalola University, Are Afe Babalola himself has directed that students of opposite sex caught holding hands in public will now be flogged. In what was tagged 'Operation Koboko', the announcer warned the students to desist from holding hands in an intimate way in public. He said, "When we find you doing what is called Public Display of Affection, we will flog you, starting from this night. Court Remands Man Who Raped Daughter in Ekiti

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court has remanded Davies Noel, a 52-Year Old Varsity Staff who allegedly rapped his 12 year old daughter. Davies was on Friday, November 1st, 2019 remanded on the orders of the Chief  Magistrate, Mr Abdullamid Lawal. Noel a resident of Peace Avenue in Ado Ekiti, pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape and incest. The prosecutor, Insp. Leramo Caleb told the court that the accused committed the offences between the year 2018 and Oct. 2019 at the above address. Caleb said the 12-year-old survivor confided in an outsider at her school and narrated the story to a confident who reported to the police. He noted that the accused confessed to the crime and that the medical report conducted on the survivor showed that her hymen was broken. The offence contravened Sections 214 of the Criminal Code Law of Ekiti State 2012. The case was adjourned until November 11th, 2019, for mentioning.
