Fayemi Flags Off N20.2b Ero Rehabilitation Project

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has flagged off the rehabilitation of Ero dam and replacement of transmission main pipelines with an expectation that the project would address water shortage and curb open defecation. Speaking at the flag off ceremony in Ikun Ekiti, Fayemi expressed optimism that the $55 million project - 20.2billion when converted to Naira, which is co-sponsored by the World Bank and the state government would give a sigh of relief to the nine local government areas supplied by the dam when uninterrupted potable water is made available to them. The governor stated that Ekiti State has been investing in water and sanitation sector with efforts to rehabilitate some of the dams within the State in collaboration with the European Union and the World Bank. Ex Nigeria President Passes Away

First democratically elected president of Nigeria, Shehu Shagari has been reported dead. Shagari passed away at the National Hospital Abuja on Friday. He was 93 years old. The news was broken by the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, on his Twitter handle. Tambuwal had tweeted:     I regret to Announce the death of former President Shehu Shagari who just passed away at National Hospital Abuja. Pre-Sax By Abasi Femi Oguntayo Just as the NUJ were rounding up this year’s Press Week with a dinner, which marks the grand finale of the Press week at AB Hotels and suits, along Olora quarters in Ado-Ekiti, a fresh talent was discovered. Daughter of one of the journalist at the event, Mr Gbenga Sodehinde, Precious Sodehinde came on board to entertain the audience at the event that night. Her performance at the event was one of the memorable things that happened at the event, as everyone was amazed by the manner in which this young girl handled the saxophone. The little girl was said to have been invited for performances in and outside the State. No doubt, this is one talent discovered and must be developed, because tomorrow, she will be making Ekiti State proud. Akwa Ibom Govt Makes U-Turn, Approves Akpabio Int’l Stadium For APC Presidential Campaign

Akwa Ibom State government has approved the use of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium for the President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election campaign scheduled to hold on Friday . The development according to a statement by the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Monday Uyo yesterday, followed decision by managers of the facility, Julius Berger to recall the staff from their scheduled holiday. Uko said: “Following a decision by Julius Berger Plc to recall the staff from their scheduled holiday, the Akwa Ibom State government has approved the use of Nest of Champions Stadium Uyo for the flag-off of the president’s electioneering campaign on December 28, 2018. “However, all other terms of the use will remain effective.
