ERSTWHILE COUNCIL SCRIBES ENDORSE APC PARTICIPATION IN EKITI LG ELECTION, MONITOR 2018 GOVERNORSHIP PROCESS

Former Secretaries to the Local Governments in the 16 Local Government Areas (LGA)and 19 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) have thrown their weight behind the participation of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Local Government election in Ekiti State. This group otherwise known as G-35, gave this endorsement in a communique issued after their meeting in Ayegbaju Ekiti on Sunday October 15, 2017. It was signed by tge group's Chairman and Secretary: Hon Ojo James Foluso and Akogun Tai Oguntayo respectively The group strongly believed that APC's participation will strengthen democracy apart from serving as a good ground for litigation if the State government attempts to rig the election. The group then suggested maximum media coverage and tight security by the stakeholders in the election. Akogun with wife The State Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Akogun Tai Oguntayo has been awarded as the Sui Geberis Journalist of the year by the University of Nigeria, Nsuka chapter of National Education Students' Association (NUESA). Others who were honoured at the august occasion are: the Provost of the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, Professor Moji Oyarekua, former Acting Privost, Dr Eunice Ogunleye and the State Chairman of the Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Pastor Samuel Agbede. The event which took place at the College of  Education, Ikere Ekiti had the creme de LA as awards were also presented to the Guest Lecturer who is also the Provost of College of Medicine, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Prof Ojo Abiodun and the Winner of Switchers' Writers.  T he Independent National electoral Commission (INEC) has just released the time table for the upcoming Governorship elections in both Ekiti and Osun states respectively. Below is the outline for Ekiti State Governorship elections: * Notice of election - 4th April, 2018 * Commencement of campaign by Political Parties in public - 15th April, 2018 * Collection of Forms for the election by Political Parties at INEC Headquarters - 16th April, 2018 * Conduct of Party Primaries including resolution of disputes arising from the primaries - 15th April, 2018 - 14th May, 2018 * Last day for submission of Forms CF001 and CF002 at the INEC Headquarters - 15th May, 2018 * Publications of Personal Particulars of candidates (CF001) and list of candidates - 22nd May, 2018 * Last day for withdrawal by candidate(s)/replacement of withdrawn candidate(s) by Political Parties - 30th May, 2018 * Last day for the submission of Nomination forms by Political Parties -
